A common question we get is, “Do I need to clean my solar panels?” Generally, solar panels are self cleaning, utilizing the rain to wash away dirt and debris as long as your panels are tilted. If for some reason your panels are on a flat rooftop, or the tilt is minimal, it can then make it trickier for dirt to wash away effectively.
Should I Hose off my Panels?
Here at Solaire, we are very wary with suggesting you hose or power wash your solar panels as the pressure from the water can cause water ingress. Moisture ingress in your photovoltaic (PV) modules is the main cause of most power degradation. This can lead to metal grid corrosion, delamination and discolouration of encapsulants, optical and adhesion losses, and complete system failures.
Solar System Servicing
Servicing your system is a great way to make sure your system is not only producing and running like it should, but can also catch any degradation before it becomes a major problem. In 2019 an ABC article showed that 1 in 6 solar installations were sub-standard and 1 in 30 were unsafe. Servicing your system will help avoid potential product warranty issues and system failures, it also gives you the peace of mind that your installation is to standard. Solaire can offer an all inclusive service package. Once our team has assessed your system, you will receive a report with all our findings, readings and recommendations.
